Financial literacy is not taught in our schools. It is not taught in college, unless of course you major in finance or economics but even them it is from more of an academic perspective. You either learn it from your family, through your own curiosity, from your mistakes or in some cases people avoid it all together.
I understand there is a lot of information on the Internet, but a lot of it is cookie cutter stuff that may help, but there is so much more. And if you are not net savvy or have the time to research these topics you may never find the real details or get the answers to you specific situation. Fortunately, finance is a hobby for me and I practice what I preach. I am not a CPA or CFA, but someone working hard hoping to do a little better each year, so I can give my family what it needs without making an unnecessary amount of sacrifice. I hope to share with you my stories, and provide a community where people can find the information, support and resources necessary to become financially literate.
I hope that you, as well as myself, will find a support system that will help us all climb that ladder to the top. Taxes can be scary for a lot of people, but understanding how to use them is essential to building wealth. Its even more important for people who are not in the top 1% of earners, because we are more sensitive to the things that reduce our income such as surprise expenses, layoffs, taxes, etc. If you have any questions or wish to contribute in any way please either leave a reply to this post or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
